My name is Emily Hansen and I am a chemistry major at Alverno College in Milwaukee, Wisconsin. I am creating this blog to enlighten readers about concepts in microbiology and their worldwide impact as a part of my classwork for Microbiology. For my topic, I have chosen Malaria, the second deadliest infectious disease in the world (Center for Strategic International Studies, 2014). Through this blog, I will provide information about what malaria is and its causes, its global impact through social media outlets, signs and symptoms, treatments and prevention of the disease in hopes of spreading awareness about the illness.
